About WikiGardens.com
WikiGardens is designed to be a community resource that will be maintained and updated by you – the gardeners who use it.
Wikis work because of the cooperation and consensus of wiki users. Any member of WikiGardens can post or edit information on any gardening subject – plants, soil, pests, seed storage, etc. Your changes/additions may then be edited by someone else.
Anyone who has worked in a community garden will understand the concept. Respect for other gardeners and the desire to share your experience/expertise are traits common to community gardens and, we hope, WikiGardens.
How is WikiGardens different from other gardening websites?
- We’re all about local. – Just enter your ZIP code or City into a search box and you’ll connect with fellow WikiGardeners, gardening clubs and associations, and companies offering gardening supplies and services – all in your area!
- We’re timely. – WikiGardens ’ info is available in real-time 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Information about local conditions including weather, bloom times, dormant care, diseases, pests, etc. will all be current because WikiGardeners post first-hand information about what’s happening in their gardens.
- We give back to the gardening community. – We donate up to 20% of our sponsors’ fees to local non-profit gardening clubs and associations.
- We’re about as noncommercial as you can get. – You won’t pay a membership fee. We’ll never sell your personal information. We won’t bombard you with banner ads or those annoying pop-up windows or pay-per-click ads. In fact, all of our advertisers receive the same two-line description of their company and a link to their website.
